Dr. K. Madhavi is an exponent of traditional Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam who is an embodiment of skill and grace. She started learning Bharatanatyam at the tender age of 7 under the tutelage of Sri. G. Rathees Babu, the renowned Bharatanatyam exponent of Bhilai, Chattishgarh.  She has a Post Graduation in Bharatanatyam and a  Doctorate in Angik Abhinay which includes the comparative study of Angik abhinay from Bharatmuni’s “Natyashatras” and Nandikeshwara's “Abhinayadarpan from Indira Kala Sangeet Viswa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh, (C.G.).

 

Currently She is working as an Assistant. Professor in Bharatanatyam in the Dance department at Banasthali Vidyapith Womens University, Banasthali, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

This versatile dancer has received many awards and honours like Natyamayuri award in the  year 1995, 1996 & 2003, Best classical dancer for the year 1996, National award at Shimla, Gopikrishna award (National) for the year 1997 at Kalka (H.P.) and many more. She Received National Senior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam Classical Dance from CCRT  Department by the Government of India (GOI) in the year 2001. She has also been entrusted by the GOI's Classical Arts Department to conduct and train students in their summer camps.
